11 / 21 / 25 – Essay #4 (What’s in a Name)

Ahead of a logo, IRS EID, trademark, credo, elevator speech, and vision a decision had to be made on what to call ‘this’ which requires diving into the world of GoDaddy and top-level domains (aka TLDs) such as .com .net .org .ai .co .info. io .online & .us.

At first I debated calling it The Portal or Port of Shanghai (busiest in the world) as writers + readers will float in, dock, unload freight (content), load new freight (knowledge), then ship off hopefully with a desire to return daily. I also considered ‘The Nile’ (the largest river in Africa, mirroring Amazon) but decided on The Monolith.Media. I’m a fan of Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 epic, ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ which features Monoliths that, ‘Represent and trigger epic transitions in the history of human evolution‘ which’ll provide fodder for interviews + podcasts as we’re simplistically a place for hotlinks but in reality we’re, ‘Evolving humanity’s evolutionary journey and the power of transcendence.’

Note, the purple Monolith within the logo is a union of Red and Blue.
